1.     – On page 169 Haymitch Abernathy says, “The idea that Thirteen has somehow rebounded and the Capitol is ignoring it? That sounds like the kind of rumor desperate people cling to.” This quotation displays a conflict in the story weather or not Katniss should try to run away before the reeping when she will be taken back to the Capitol for her second Hunger Games. She would run away in hopes of finding a rebel filled land in district 13, but if she gets there and it is ruble and ash like the Capitol says, then she will most likely die there with no chance of returning.

-         Katniss says, “If I can make it clear that I’m still defying the Capitol right up to the end, the Capitol will have killed me…but not my spirit. What better way to give hope to the rebels?” This Quote shows that Katniss believes there is zero chance of her and Peeta making it out of the arena alive, so the conflict is what can she do in the little time she has left to give the rebels enough motivation to rebel against the capitol.

2.     – “Katniss convinces Haymitch to keep Peeta alive in the arena, but Peeta also convinces Haymitch to keep Katniss alive.” The two opposition forces are Katniss and Peeta both wanting to keep each other alive.

-         “Katniss cannot talk in private as the Capitol can hear everything she says.” The two opposition forces are Katniss and the Capitol as the Capitol won’t let Katniss keep any secrets of rebelling.

-         “Katniss is in love with Gale and Peeta at the same time.” The forces in opposition are Katniss and her confused love life with Gale and Peeta.

-         “Katniss gets stuck outside of district 12 from the electric fence” the forces in opposition are Katniss and the head peace keeper trying to do everything he can to get her in trouble.

-         “Katniss and Peeta can’t decide who to befriend out of the victors.” The forces in opposition are Katniss vs Peeta, because they each have different opinions on who they should get as allies.
